SOVRIAN
Right to Privacy.

What is Sovrian?

Sovrian is a mobile app that gives you true control over your private communication. Its mission is simple: no phone or email logins, minimal metadata, and secure peer-to-peer messaging. Privacy is built in, not added later.

Key principles

Why Sovrian Exists

Privacy is not a luxury. Privacy is not a bonus feature. Privacy is your right.

Sovrian is built around a single principle: No one should have the ability to monitor your conversations simply because they can.

After the recent attempts in the European Union to introduce mass-scanning of private messages — even on encrypted apps — Sovrian was conceived to ensure that such attempts never threaten private communication again.

What Happened in the EU?

• 09 October 2025 — Germany blocks mandatory chat-scanning proposal

Germany formally opposed the controversial EU proposal requiring messaging platforms to scan private communications, including encrypted chats. The opposition blocked mandatory scanning from being added to the Council agenda, preserving privacy protections for digital communications.

• 26 November 2025 — EU Council agrees on revised child abuse law (non-mandatory scanning)

EU member states reached a common position on a law to combat child sexual abuse online. The final text removed mandatory message scanning requirements that privacy critics feared would allow mass surveillance of encrypted chats.

If this law had passed, it would have opened the door to mass surveillance across Europe — affecting everyone, not just criminals. Sovrian aims to ensure that this never happens again — and if it does, we’re ready.
